Graduation

I never finished high school just got the GED.

So did I drop out or did I just finish high school early?

I got my cosmetology license so I’m a hair stylist.

So did I end my career at that?

I became a mom.

So did I add a job/label to me?

I got the information that I could go to college for free. I figured sure, people in other countries would kill for that opportunity.

So walked in to test to get placed.

I scored so low I had a year’s worth of non-college credits to pass before I even could start my road.

During those years I could say I learned a lot, and lost a lot but my biggest thing that did happen that wasn’t going to be obvious.

Was the lame word of forcing “dedication” in my life. The sticking through and messing up friendships, missing out on family outings. Sitting through history class thinking wow, I’m missing out on money refusing to do a highlight so I can learn about buddhism that has nothing to do with my degree.

History credit *sigh*

Many people ask me if I’m going to stop doing hair.

No why would I stop running my business and doing what I love when I get this degree “in business”??

This has taught me to do my own books now,

Communication class has taught me how to communicate, psychology has taught me how to deal with clientele. The list goes on.

I’ve had many people tutor me and keep me motivated and I want to thank those who have, to the one who is always there for me where ever when ever, even a text away anytime, through many years of classes and zoom during Covid. THANK YOU! thank you thank you thank you, you’ve seen me cry and saw me through some VERY weird times in my life.  You got me through. Thank you.

To the husbands of my friends who are teachers. Meteorology wow, thanks. I never want to read the weather map ever again.  BUT now I know what goes in behind flying an airplane.

Statistics, to my client, thanks for taking the time to teach me one on one, and help me put my own numbers in from my business to get a real, real on feel of just what I can use this for.

I look back and realized I lost out on a lot in life doing this. Some people get masters degrees in 5 years, I.. got an associates. But you know what, I bought a house, kept my business above water, matured, mothered my kid, lost a grandmother who I lived with since I was 15… was right next to her on her last days in my home, lost my dog of 16 years, went to visit Italy! I lost a lot but let me tell you I gained so much more. Giving up tv shows and parties to grow to this is just a chefs kiss. 🥂 cheers
